$150 an Hour From Paid Surveys?

Can you really get paid to take a survey? I’m skeptical, to say the least. Like the “get paid to surf the web” phenom back in the boom, paid surveys have generated a great deal of attention among the wanna work at home crowd. Attention is one thing, but real revenues just might be something else. Is it really possible to get paid up to $150 an hour simply for taking surveys?
I’ve been looking at one paid survey website after another, and something just seems amiss.
A great many paid survey sites make positively outrageous claims, promising bounties of up to $250 for participating in focus groups or $100 for phone surveys. They even crow that you can get paid to read email and to drive a car.
Could it really be true?

The line, “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is” definitely applies to money making schemes on the Internet today. But just because some sites have given the industry a bad name, people can still make some money on surveys and focus groups. My advice is to look at several different paid surveys sites and make contact with them. The ones who give a phone number or personalized email service are probably the most legitimate companies who will actually put your membership fee to use instead of taking it and providing you with very little opportunities.

I’m like you- I’m not gonna put my money down unless I know I’m going to get something good for it. So I’ve only joined with survey sites that don’t require any money down. This usually means their surveys give less of a payout and that their databases might be smaller, but still- I’m not complaining if I’m getting even a few bucks for free.
So far, one site has actually paid me [Lightspeed Research Panel] and I’ve requested a check for my total earnings to be sent to me from SurveySpot, I’ll believe THEM when my check actually gets here =P
Have you tried any of them since your post?

Actually there are some companies that do pay and legitimately advertise what they do… I for one know at least 5 dif companies that do send payments/checks as described in their terms… nothing close to $150/hour… that i may/may not make in a few months or year by taking surveys
Offers: almost forget about them, some do pay for trial services… but trust me not worth the hassle and tricks! many clients of these companies are shady businesses which will over charge you or send spam at occasions
Stay away from claims that sound totally too good 2 be true… u can easily find some legitimate survey panel list of active companies online… there are now quite a few sites warning the consumers about specific sites known to be scams/lies! but the rest get filtered for listings
my recommendations: http://www.surveyscout.com [Pay for the list of panels u can join, i paid 30 40 bucks, and i think it's worth it... but now i'm quite sure u can find a very similar list or even better for free or much much cheaper... FREE is a bet!] anyways this one is only going to tell u about many dif companies which are active in paid survey/market research
my favorite actual survey panel: http://www.surveyspot.com FREE to join… 5 years of no problem business!!!! rarely problems or delays in payouts… very good customer service… frequent invitations for surveys
compared to the rest of panels i’ve tried, their payment/time, hardness of each survey is the best and fairest!
usually $2 per survey… occasional $1 or $5… very few pay any higher… but they do have higher pay for few certain surveys
though, most of their surveys that has a cash incentive other than sweepstakes entry is $3 and 90% of the time does not take more than 15 minutes
min balance/payment requirement for checks is only $5
the way their surveys are, is the most important thing… i rarely get disqualified when I’m through with the 1st third of the survey… while many other panels ask u key disqualifying/qualifying questions well into the surveys sometimes even at the end when they have collected what they were looking for… then they say sorry, bye! come back! which is very lame method… or some survey companies just have complicated and long and frustrating surveys with a very low reward in cash! ($1 for 30 min long survey) not worth it… trust me u’ll feel disappointed by your 2nd week
so start up on surveyspot.com and see how it goes… then when u learned the tips/tricks and got some experience… start trying other websites and read their reward/privacy terms for sure…. that will prevent many future problems/misunderstandings…
Go for those who say they will pay cash… In 7 years of surveying… on different panels and groups… I have yet to “win” anything! but I’ve gotten paid a few hundred dollars so far in a few years and those were all extra green in my pocket… i specially use the cash for gifts or unplanned entertainment which always happens when a new movie comes out and u hear about it… u just have to go and pay 10 bucks and watch it with your friends… and if u r tightly budgeted, then this type of cash can be life saving at times… with a good management of resources!
money made out of online boredom!!!! [time is gold eh?]

I’ve been paid $100 cash for a single survey as well as gift certificates for $50 and $75. Unfortunately, the company called me for the survey offer. Though it did sound too good to be true, I actually did receive payment.
Now that I think about it, I’m going to go back and try to find those companies and see if I can pursue them!

I still do alot of surveys but I do not participate in any of the phone or focal groups surveys .
there are some that pay for hands on groups but you have to travel to that city to participate .
Most of the one i do issue points for completing a qualified survey. when you get to a amount of point ,say 1000 you can have them send you a check for $10. Some just enter you in a sweepsteaks .
Some you can trade in you points for mechandise . I just received a camera card from one . 2000 points .
Probably have recieved about $250 dollars in checks over a 4 year period . That represent hundrends of surveys ..
You will never make $150 an hour .And unless you have “nothing ” better to do it requires a lot of time ,about 1 to 2 hours a day .I only subscribe to about 5 sites . They are free .I have about 50 more dollars waiting to reach enough points to redeem
Do not pay for list of sites they are most of the time outdated and usless .
Oh yes ! i did win $100 dollars on one site about 3 years ago
