Jessica and Proactiv - It’s Not Just Us Geeks With Bad Skin

What’s up with Jessica Simpson pushing Proactiv? Okay, I admit to not paying much attention to her music. I honestly couldn’t tell you the names of her big hits. But the fact that she’s now doing television commercials for Proactiv as the cure for her zits? That’s another story. Today’s media stars are hyping product like there’s no end in sight. If Proactiv did help Jessica cure a bad skin problem, I’m okay with that.

I guess it isn’t just us geeks with bad skin.

Maybe I dreamed this … I dunno. But I could have sworn I saw Ms. Simpson starring in a Proactiv commercial late last night. Jessica with bad acne? The horrors! The before and after photographs shown in the Proactive commercial were telling. While not monumental, the acne on her chin appeared to be considerable.

I’d like to hope that the Proactiv images weren’t Photoshopped one way or the other. After the time (long ago!) that TV Guide ran Oprah’s head on Ann-Margaret’s body, I’ve learned not to trust the images shown in print.

We can’t blame the pop star. After all, acne medications are among the most popular embarrassing products sold online. Jessica’s endorsement deal with Proactiv is just the latest in an endless stream of celebrities fessing up for dollars … gotta get it while the gettin’s good.
