I’ve had a hankering for a big screen in the living room for the longest time. A nice little LCD projector would be oh-so-sweet. With an LCD projector, I could fill the wall next to the tiki bar without sacrificing the floorspace of a tube-based big screen. But aside from the monetary considerations, I’m concerned as to whether the room is too bright for an LCD projector.

Our current living room TV is an ever-faithful eleven-year-old 27″ Toshiba. I had intended to replace it when we rearranged the room a couple of years back. Alas, after rewiring the satellite connection (to put the tube at the far end of the room), other things sucked up all available funds and we’ve been squinting at the screen ever since.

Of course, the lack of funds has never stopped me from dreaming …

I’d like to check out an LCD projector rental service to see which units might work best. By renting different LCD projectors, I’d hope to avoid getting stuck with one that didn’t do the job.

Now if any of the LCD projector manufacturers want to slide us some test units, I would gratefully (make that gleefully) accept the challenge … :)
