To follow on Friday’s blog posting about automobile donation, I’m looking into the advantages and disadvantages. I must say that I’m more than a bit skeptical, after reading what I’ve read.

But here’s what I’m going to do … I’m going to call one or two of these automobile donation places this week to see what they say. I need to check them out for myself. See, we have this little old Honda Civic sitting here in the driveway that could use a new home. It could use a new battery and a clutch, too but could it be a donation candidate?

Old paint has close to 200K on the clock, and is only on its second timing chain. Oh yeah, it’s the original clutch, to boot.

Is there a charity that would want my donated automobile? What are the terms of the donation? And how kindly does the IRS look upon the practice of automobile donation?

These are the questions that need to be answered …
