How to make XP Faster

Did you ever buy a new computer and it runs so fast and you love it. But in a couple months it’s slow and annoying. The reason for this is because when you first get a computer it has hardly anything installed. So after time when you install things the computer slows down. But even if you don’t install anything your computer will still go slow because you’re using the computer. But wait you could still be saved! There are some tips that can help you. Here they are.

  • Delete all the programs and toolbars you don’t use anymore this will give you space and some speed.
  • Defraging your hard drive is an excellent way to speed up XP. To Defrag your hard drive go to My Computer-Right Click on your main hard drive-click properties-go to the tools tab-click Defragment Now-On the bottom left click Analyze-(when Analyze is done a box will appear) Click Defragment and wait. Another way to defrag your hard drive is to “Defraggler” here is the link. Defraggler is a third party software that does what XP does but better I prefer it over XP’s defragment. Also don’t worry if defragging takes long the process usually lasts about 30min. to 2 hours.
  • This article tells you how to speed up your boot. I think it’s good but use it with caution here is the link.
  • Another way of keeping your computer fast is to have an anti-virus to keep you safe from viruses. The one I use is AVG and it’s free here is the link. If you want to read my review about AVG here is the link.
