Me

Well, I suppose it wouldn’t be a blog without the obligatory introduction post. Generally I loathe writing about myself, but I try to do so whenever I enter a new community. So here are some things about me…

My real name is Matt.

I consider myself a gamer. Because of this, I usually dream of spending the money I don’t have on new games or (more often) game-enabling hardware. I try to avoid sinking too much money into console games, and yet I bought my PS3 because of one (unreleased) game, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. My main gaming focus lies in a Half-Life mod called Natural Selection, but I also spend a lot of time playing other games. Specifically, the newly-released Team Fortress 2 has occupied much of my time lately. I co-founded a gaming clan with some friends a couple of years ago - after all, how could you be a gaming geek without running (or at least being in) a clan? I always welcome newcomers, so if you’d like to join my clan and I for some gaming, visit us at www.thedbdclan.com and introduce yourself on the forums. For those that are wondering, my game alias (TDMedia) is from a small, now defunct, business that a friend of mine tried to start up a long time ago.

I am starting as a student in college late this January, where I will major in computer science; I’ve yet to pick a specific focus, but it will probably be software engineering. I love working with computers, and many would consider me “the neighborhood geek”. I enjoy trying to program, but my most complete and functional tools are actually made with the scripting language AutoHotkey. Much of my life is spent in front of a monitor (two, actually), and I don’t consider that a bad thing.

I prefer Linux to any other OS, but I recognize the necessity of Windows. I am far from a Linux zealot. So that, in a nutshell, is my attempt at self-description. Oh yes - one more thing: Vista is evil.
