Why Do Geeks Work At Night?

A few days ago, in response to observing my work habits someone asked me why I always seem to be more productive at night. “I dunno” was my response but the question continues to bug me. It seems to me that if you look at many of the geeks around you (Fearless leader included) that you will also discover many of them prefer the evening or late night to work as well. Why is this? It seems to be in our blood. (Please no vampire jokes, I have heard them all from my friends and family already.) If you have an idea or explanation please chime in and leave a comment.

Most of my life I have preferred to work late and sleep from 3am until about 10am. As you are probably aware, this is not ideal for many who wish to make money and survive. One has to be awake when most others are to conduct business, etc.
I believe it has to do with the Circadian rhythms we are all subject to.

less interruptions, quiet so you can be more productive. Or if your like me, I go to a real job durring the day

Hello,
I am able to focus better, think more clearly and solve problems more efficiently at night. In addition, I seem to do so with more energy.
