Ubuntu selling software through add/remove

according to a press announcement made on the parallels website
canonical (the company behind Ubuntu) is going to be providing trial versions of parallels through the add/remove software manager while keys for permanent use will be sold on their web page.

What I find to be very strange about this announcement is that add/remove already has VirtualBox which is open source and free to use while parallels is strict commercial software.
I know that this hole virtualization thing is going to be a very important factor in the new up coming Ubuntu Lts ( things like virt-manager/libvirt are going to be included in this one) but does offering a commercial product help them reach this goal ??

Don’t get me wrong here, I would really like to see canonical becoming a self sustainable company but they shouldn’t lose their open source spirit, because that’s what made them big in the Linux world and i hope they never forget that
