Pulse by Dan Cavanagh’s Big Band Emporium

Let me start off by stating that I am not a music critique. I’m a sophomore jazz studies student at the University of Texas at Arlington. Anyways, back during my freshman year, one of my professors, Dan Cavanagh, had produced an album. I enjoyed listening to him perform so I picked it up. My favorite two tracks on this album have to be Pulse and Tunnel Vision. Tunnel Vision has some amazing solos brought forth by Ken Edwards on the trumpet and Steve Wiest on the trombone. Dan is a very accomplished jazz composer and only his best compositions make it onto his CDs. These tracks are great to listen to. I wish I had more experience with this to really comment on how much I like this album, but if you’re a fan of jazz and good music, then you should pick up this album. Buy it on Amazon. I’ll try to get more experienced at this to really give this album a more in-depth review. Until then, you get a “Hey, I listen to it and I like it, if you enjoy jazz, you’ll enjoy the album as well.”
