XNA Game Studio Express

This isn’t really new news, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Xna Game Studio Express is a game development toolkit from Microsoft. It offers all of the features of a next-gen game engine, but what separates itself from those is the fact that it’s free to develop games for Windows, developing for the Xbox 360 is another platform you can use it to develop on but that requires a premium membership which costs money. Xna Game Studio Express is a great free tool to use to develop games for Windows.

Ever Tried CCleaner?

Does your computer seem slower than it used to be? Many reasons why computers become slow is because of registry errors and unneeded files that clutter up your computer.

I found this wonderful program called CCleaner. It analyzes your hard drive and finds any junk files and removes them per your request. It also searches for registry errors and fixes them. It has many other features but these two features are the main features that I use. It helps keep your computer running smooth. If your computer is running sluggish I recommend giving it a try.

E3: Electronic Entertainment Expo 2009

The Electronic Entertainment Expo or better known as, E3 is right around the corner. E3 is the biggest video game convention of the year and will show us what will be coming in the near future of gaming. The expo starts Monday, June 2nd and goes through June 4th. I am excited to hear what Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo have to say about the future of their consoles and games of the future.

Visual Studio 2008 Express Editions

If you are a programmer, you have probably heard about Microsoft’s Visual Studio IDE for programming in multiple programming languages, but if you are more of the hobbyist programmer than someone who writes code for living, Visual Studio 2008 Express Edition is a version of visual studio that is completely free to download and use.

Xbox 360 Red Ring Of Death, E74 Error, Etc.

I have enjoyed playing my Xbox 360 for about a year now and I really started to enjoy playing Xbox Live on my favorite Xbox 360 game, Gears Of War 2. There are very many fun games for the Xbox 360, it is an overall good console and has something for everyone.

Unfortuantly, the Xbox 360 suffers from a major design flaw which causes almost every one of them to get what’s called the “Red Ring Of Death”, which if you are familiar with Xbox 360 then you probably have heard of it. My Xbox 360 recently got the “Red Ring Of Death” and I was disappointed that my Xbox gaming ended so abruptly.

I did my geek duties and tried my hand at doing some DIY repair; it worked for a few hours, but then it happened again. I have decided that I am going to buy a PS3, because even though I love what the Xbox 360 has to offer, I don’t feel like buying another one which is predestined to fail sometime in the future.

Game Maker

It has a direct name as to what it can do, make video games. I have been using Game Maker for about four years now and being the casual programmer that I am it is good for me because I don’t have the patience to learn C++ or the like. It has it’s own programming language “GML”, it has very many features and it’s very easy to put a little game together. Say you want to do something that isn’t natively capable in Game Maker, you can write a .dll in a different programming language and have Game Maker interface with it to perform a function. FL Studio 8

FL Studio version 8 has been released! I am a happy user of FL Studio and I am excited for the new version. If you don’t know about FL Studio, It is a professional music production environment.

It has many features such as

Easy to use Step Sequencer
Lots of included instruments
Overall fun and easy to use

I am comfortable using FL Studio, if I have an idea I am able to create it in very easily…like their slogan “The Fastest Way From Your Brain To Your Speakers”. There are many other music production packages out there, but fl studio stuck out for me, being somewhat new to the world of music production and recording I adopted it very quickly because I liked it and frankly it is more affordable compared to other software. Not much else to say besides go try it out and have fun!

Independent Musicians on the Web

It has been getting much easier for independent musicians to have a presence on the web. With different sites like MySpace, Purevolume and more… make it easy to get your music out there and let people hear it! Having that MySpace has teamed up with SnoCap to let people put a music store right on their page, makes it a great way to sell your music without the help of a record label.

Future Television

I enjoy television just as much as the average person but I am pushed away by the loud and annoying commercials. With “Future Television,” though, I see a lot of room for improvements on overall quality.

With some alternative television services that exist usually are services separate from normal programmings. But really anything is possible, I would be happy to see different groups putting together an alternative television service that offers entertainment and less intrusive (if any) advertisements. Or a service where you can watch all of your favorite shows by subscribing to certain shows or by different method where you pay just for the show.

Commercials wouldn’t be as necessary since you are paying for the show itself, when commercials usually ‘pay for the show’. Or you can always go on YouTube.
