It has a direct name as to what it can do, make video games. I have been using Game Maker for about four years now and being the casual programmer that I am it is good for me because I don’t have the patience to learn C++ or the like. It has it’s own programming language “GML”, it has very many features and it’s very easy to put a little game together. Say you want to do something that isn’t natively capable in Game Maker, you can write a .dll in a different programming language and have Game Maker interface with it to perform a function.
