DeskScapes is a unique program that allows users to customize their Windows desktop wallpaper with effects, animation and a variety of other options. DeskScapes 3 adds support for Windows 7 and includes a host of effects that users can apply to their existing traditional desktop backgrounds.

Does anyone really need this? If you think your machine is too fast, you can always assign a core or two to a SETI search - it would be a more productive use of CPU cycles.

If you like to customize your desktop, then I would say yes. Resource usage is minimal regardless, so you really aren’t losing anything.
