After being in beta for quite a while, Microsoft officially released Windows Live SkyDrive. During the beta testing users had up to 1GB of online storage, but today it was upped to a whopping 5GB! In addition to the increased storage, SkyDrive also rolled out in 35 countries as well.
I have been using SkyDrive throughout the beta period, and I have been very impressed at its progress and usefulness. SkyDrive gives you the ability to have public and private shared folders, which is great when needing to collaborate with someone across the country, or now, across the world.

As a VB MCP and long-time Passport holder (the original MS online services “credential”) I’ve been participating in the beta, and I have to say that the service is quite handy. I use it for collaborating with the client with whom I’m currently contracting, along with Windows Live Messenger (for the videocon capability), and the combination permits us to interact almost as if we were in the same office. Gotta give MS kudos on this one, at least.
Now, if they could just fix IE7 so I could leave IE6 behind, and maybe Vista… Nah, forget Vista; I’m quite happy with XP Pro.
