Playstation 1 Games on the PSP

I got my replacement PlayStation Portable yesterday along with the Final Fantasy 7 game Crisis Core, which I recommend to anyone — but you’ll need to know the Final Fantasy story to really get into it. I was browsing the PlayStation store earlier and thought I’d purchase some games that are compatible on the PSP which were once on the PlayStation 1 (also known as the PlayStation X). I purchased Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot: Crash Team Racing, and Echocrome Micro. So far I’ve played Echocrome and Crash Bandicoot and, well, Echocrome is fine but Crash Bandicoot is really buggy. Twice it has frozen on me and I have also experienced some lag during the last level of the first island.

I loved playing this game when I was younger so I wanted to play it again on my new PSP but it’s a bit of a bad experience; I haven’t played Crash Team Racing yet but will edit this post if I do experience lagging or glitching. Echocrome (which is a new game and was never on the PSX) plays fine apart from the weird and annoying error saying that my save data is corrupt and I’m forced to start the game again. All I can say is that I’ve had bad experiences with PlayStation Portables; my first PSP (the original one) got a dead pixel that is unable to be fixed, my first PSP Slim got bricked, and now my new one is for some reason having problems with my memory card. If you want a PSP, then go ahead and get one as they are great devices but as for the PlayStation X games for the PSP, well, it’s not looking good so far.
