I just watched the wwdc conference on Apple’s website yesterday and well it’s not the best thing I have seen… As much as I like apple I didn’t find everything to be really interesting so I’ll just scroll through some of the main things that I remember:
Intro: I seen Steve announce what they were going to talk about such as the new iphone 2.0 firmware, mobile me and various other things but what interested me the most was the announcement of snow leopard. I was watching the whole conference and as it was getting closer to the end they still hadn’t mentioned anything else about it and when it finally ended I was really disappointed that no more was mentioned. There is a site that’s already been made showing information about snow leopard but it’s not really something that’s perfect and I’d like to know more.
Iphone 2.0 firmware: To be honest I found this to drag on way too much, as happy as I am to see all the new apps that are available for download I really got tired of all the other companies coming and advertising. Being the happy gamer that I am I was excited to see the games that had been made by Sega and I was highly impressed by the new application called band. I instantly thought of garage band but made for the iphone and the interactivity was amazing. I was also surprised by the amount of apps that were going to be on the app store for free and sadly none of the games are free but they seems to be at a good price.
Iphone 3G: Ok this is the thing that everyone was expecting but I see no point in buying the new iphone at all (unless you don’t own the original), I am however really amused at the fact that you can’t buy the iphone from the Apple website and only from shops. When you do decide to buy the 3G iphone from a shop well they will activate it for you in the shop so I think they are really looking into the “lets stop hackers” theory. As for the improvements well nothing too amazing, I believe that if you own the original iphone then I wouldn’t recommend buying it just for the faster net speed and size difference because that’s all I see in the new version.
Mobile me: Well I was never a big fan of .Mac and now that it’s being replaced by mobile me well I’m not happy with what mobile me does either. I’ll admit that some of the features looked ok but again it’s the pricing, I’m not a big fan of what apple are offering in mobile me and what they were offering in the .Mac accounts. That’s all I really have to say about that.
Well that’s it from me, I enjoyed watching the conference but like I said they done too much about the 2.0 firmware and not enough of news on snow leopard but it all weighs out and in the end was a good video to watch. For anyone interested then you can watch it at Apple.com and I believe there is also a “wrap up” video around on the internet somewhere and of course engadget.com has lots of detailed information (more than me that’s for sure) on the subject.
