I was browsing on engadget earlier and seen a post stating what Steve Ballmer said about “printed media”, just a few minutes ago i read this post by Ron Schenone: Click Here
Now i must admit that i found this quite ridiculous although it may happen i still find it something that shouldn’t. What’s easier than going to a shop and buying a newspaper? Well there is something that isn’t and that’s what Steve is saying, ok people may be taking their laptops and other gadgets onto a train or in a car and doing things like that but the main reasons for that is to do something like watch a movie or catch up on work if you need to not to just read a newspaper or magazine.
Another comment made by Bill gates was that students wouldn’t need text books instead they would have tablet pc’s with all their work saved on and there is one thing that comes to my mind when that was said, “yay i lost my work files on my tablet pc” going by how reliable Microsoft are hen that could possibly be said a lot. I know that finding the latest news is easy to do on the Internet but surely going as far to say that we’re going to replace every magazine and newspaper with an electronic device that will cost you more than buying a few pieces of paper is ridiculous. What’s going to happen next, the next best selling book will not be sold on store shelves no no no, it’s going to be downloaded as a pdf. That’s right people forget first editions, forget paper back and hard back editions and forget the kind of condition the book is in because you’ll be downloading it.
Harry potter is going digital =)
