A while ago in a blog post i stated the error messages that i get in vista and one of them being windows desktop manager has stopped working, I’ve noticed a lot of people have been getting this and after all the research i have done it seems to boil down to the aero glass effect. So yes, vista is offering for you to enable this great feature but at some sort of price as of getting an error like me and many others have been getting.

Now i am running windows vista home premium so i don’t have the all mighty dreamscene feature so i found a application i could use to get me this effect, the program (which a lot of you have probably heard of) is called deskscapes which is brought to you by stardock. This is a fantastic application and i love the “dreams” you can get with it from wincustomize and yes i did pay for this but in the end i found out that i can’t enjoy it….why?!?!?! Because of the windows desktop manager…

Every time i get the error message my background dreams decide to stop working and then after a while it goes to a solid black background but there is one dream that this does not happen on and i think it’s one of the default ones and it also happens to be my favorite one so far. It’s of the earth spinning around and the light and dark changes according to the time you have set on your machine so that’s the main reason i like it and another reason is because it’s not effected by the desktop manager error and why it’s not well i have no idea.

So it seems the only real fix is to disable aero but i hate the default look that you get if aero is turned off (the look which is probably best described as the vista basic theme) so for now i am some what happily living with aero and my world background and at the same time still receiving the error messages that i previously posted a while back. You gotta love vista, giving you a great feature only to have them force you to come close to disabling it.
