Leopard thoughts

I haven’t blogged recently due to college work and the amount of studying I have to do to finish it off, anyway I’m currently in the last week of my Easter holidays and while I’ve been on my holidays I was happy to finally get my first ever Mac machine. On Easter day I ordered a macbook pro 15″ widescreen 2.5 GHz cpu, 2gb of ram and a glossy screen, it arrived about a week later and as soon as it came in the post I went straight to opening it.
After getting through all the packaging (which apple do the best boxing ever) I was happy to pull out my macbook pro, after its first boot up I spent about 2 hours playing around and learning about leopard, at first it was a bit tricky learning all the keyboard shortcuts and how it really works. I really enjoyed the overall experience that leopard offers to its users, it’s so easy to get used to (I’ve never even touched a Mac OS before getting the macbook pro). There are a few things that I’m not really a huge fan of in the OS but all the other great things make up for that.
I love the built in isight camera and the effects that photo booth have too offer and I had tons of fun with that, adding a animated background was a bit disappointing though as it never worked smoothly for me but it’s not something I would be using anyway. When looking up keyboard shortcuts on the internet I found that the only real difference with osx and windows is that you use the cmd button instead of ctrl like in leopard just use cmd + a to select all instead of ctrl + a. One of the first things I done was install iwork that I had previously purchased from apple, I haven’t really used this much yet as there is quite a bit of difference from word and even though I’m not a huge fan of office 2007 I am used to the features it has.
Next thing I played around with was garage band, I was confused at first just because I couldn’t find the apple loops but the just clicking the little eye button at the bottom revealed them and after that I was playing in garage band for hours and really enjoy this piece of software. I haven’t used much other software with it yet just because I haven’t really had the time yet as of getting carried away with the other basic software with leopard.
Well that’s it for my latest blog, I’ve just ordered the apple wireless keyboard and the mighty mouse so I should get them soon (within a week apparently) and I will do a little review about them, so until that.
Seeya.
