internet problems

I recently got a new desk (at last) and managed to get everything to the way I wanted until I happened to have no internet, I looked at all the physical connections and everything was fine so then I looked into windows and this is where things looked not right. I was for some reason picking up two different networks (none of them being mine) so then I decided to disconnect the Ethernet and then reconnect and still nothing. After trying everything I knew I then decided to give a call to my ISP tech support, after about half an hour and two calls nothing had helped and all they decided to do was send me a new Ethernet net cable….I knew this wouldn’t help but since I had a brand new Ethernet cable lying around I thought I’d try it and nothing happened with that either, so after doing everything I knew of and doing what the tech guys said I had no idea what I should do. The wireless was working fine and I was able to connect to the internet through the iphone and the light on my livebox said I was connected but I wasn’t so randomly I got a idea, I decided to boot into a Linux live cd to see if I would get the internet and right away I did!!! I found this weird for a start but then I decided to boot back into vista and I got the internet back….so after all that I managed to get the internet but never found out why I had lost it. 

vista is really looking good now (says this in a sarcastic way)
