YES!!…it’s another iphone rant.

I recently got an iphone and i have been enjoying the features it has such as accessing my e-mail through a portable device, something i’ve never been able to do up until now. There were some some disappointments that got to me when i got to read up more about it, this is the major flaws of the iphone in my opinion:

Bluetooth: The iphone has no bluetooth connectivity to any other mobile devices which is a great loss to me considering i used to use this on my old mobile phone quite often, the only bluetooth feature on the iphone is for bluetooth headsets which is something i don’t use.

Camera: While the camera has great image quality to it there are quite a few flaws to it such as there is no flash, making it impossible to take pictures in a low light area, also when i tried taking a picture of a view in my local area i couldn’t as lighting conditions were bad. There is no zoom function to the camera either, if you want to take a “close up” picture of something then you will have to be close to it as there is no zoom making it a bit hard to take pictues of things that is some distance away. Video, even though you can watch videos through youtube you cannot record your own videos through the iphone. I am aware that hackers are making a program that will let you record video but for people who are using the iphone propperly then they don’t have this feature unless apple is able to make it available in a later firmware update.

Messaging: While i do enjoy the whole messaging feature with the speech bubbles i was very disappointed in the fact that you can’t send pictures through sms, this can only be done through e-mail and then you would still need to be in a area with wi-fi to send the images you want to.

E-mail: while i love being able to check my e-mails through google mail on the iphone it doesn’t let you check your e-mails in hotmail which is my main e-mail address, you can set it up to get access to your hotmail but it comes at a price. You will either have to upgrade to a hotmail plus account or sign up to izymail which also costs but is the cheapest of the options. So far i haven’t found a other way (that works for me) of accessing hotmail on the iphone through the mail application, you can still access it through the safari browser but having it available in the mail application is a time saver at least.

Thats it!! After going through all the main features of the iphone i am very happy with it, no doubt that apple will probably release a second iphone in a few years that will probably cover these flaws but then we’ll have to face another phone with a heavy price tag (i won’t start a topic of the price which was a huge flaw). I am currenty 80/20 with the iphone, 80% loving it and 20% wishing it had some more features but now that i have the iphone i definatly won’t be buying another phone for years to come.

My hat goes off to apple for making this device. :)
