The other day I came across a job posting that read “Principal SQL Server DBA” and thought perhaps I read that wrong.  So it got my curiosity going and I thought I would check it out.  As I read the description what came to mind was …. this company is looking for a “very senior” SQL Server DBA.  I would compare the Principal SQL Server DBA to either a lead senior or a database manager type position.  Another thought came to mind as well would be… perhaps a Principal would be also someone who is published.  Has anyone else come across this title?  If so, what are your thoughts on what a Principal SQL Server DBA could be.
