Does illegal downloading really affect record sells and box office numbers?

These days, people are always ranting and raving about piracy and preventing kids from using programs like limewire and the like, but do these programs really affect record sells and box office numbers? Everyone would assume that it does, but when doing a little research an article that I came across actually expressed how it does not really affect the two. They claim that individuals who illegally download music and movies, didn’t intend on purchasing them or viewing them anyway. So, maybe its not really a sales thing, but a moral and ethnical issue. But, as long as people are greedy by nature, it is likely that all of these lawsuits against 12 year old girls for downloading songs from people like Britney Spears will continue, sad, but likely to pursue.

The truth is the love of money is the root of all evil. I believe that downloading illegally helps out the artist is a big way. It is free promotion. you can get artist you never heard before and like them, then pay 60 to 70 dollars to see them in concert. I use to download illegally but my computer is slow. I rather buy the CD.
