God Or Government: Who Is To Blame?

California FiresWith recent misfortunes such as the wildfires in the state of California and other natural disasters that have continually persisted over time, some people would like to wonder who’s fault is it really? In the aftermaths of Hurricane Katrina, many people started to blame it on God, he was the fault for the horrible mishaps of mother nature. Others blamed it on the government who didn’t build the levees high enough. In the Indonesian Tsunami people, especially Evangelical Christians, claimed it was God punishing the people for their idol worship. Also, in that event, people knew there was a horrible Tsunami coming, but the technology was not available for the region to get the news out in time. In addition, today the region has been hit with another earthquake.

So, whose fault is it really?

Now, I realize that certain things occur naturally, such as earthquakes, floods and etc. But there is also a heavy responsibility of the government to be prepared in case of these horrible disasters. Probably, nothing could have been done to prepare New Orleans for the detriment that occurred after the storm. But, the government did show some flaws in the aftermaths of it all. FEMA was slow to act, people were stranded in an arena for days without food, the president was slow to act not even visiting the area for weeks, while he promptly supported Indonesia with aid after their misfortunes and last but certainly not least, the city is still in shambles today. Currently, two years after the storm, thousands of people remain homeless, jobless and without community because of Katrina.

Are horrible incidents just acts of mother nature, or are they provoked by men? Could some of these things have anything to do with Global Warming? What is the governments role in all of this? We may never really come to an agreement about any of this and I certainly don’t have all of the answers.

Food for thought, I like that. Although California and New Orleans are just a small portion of the problems here in the States. Imagine all the problems in America the ain’t being broadcasted in the news. Everyone sees it in the towns and cities that they live in, but nothing seems to be able to be done about it.

I’d like to say that here in the States it’s the fault of our government. As well as the people that live here. God may play his role, but unfortunately nobody knows what he’s doing.

As someone who lives in California, I get very upset about the fires. I feel sorry for most of the people displaced by the fires - except the ones in the Malibu area. These are idiots who are too self-involved to do anything about their predicament. Every year there are fires in Malibu Canyon, and every year the idiots rebuild, without regard to what will happen in a few months hence. These are not working class people by the way. They have the money to build on million dollar lots, putting difficult to build projects up, with no concern for the money it costs. Well, good for them. I applaud their ability to cough up the money, which is why I have no (well, little) compassion for them when these people could use some of the millions of dollars to do one of two things - either clear, and keep clear, the brush and weeds for 100 feet in all directions, or water the surrounding areas, so that they remain so very green that no way will they burn.
