Fake Merchandise Sold On eBay — Read the Fine Print

Though the numerous lawsuits keep on coming, eBay is constantly at battle with those merchants who deal in fake and counterfeit merchandise. From items like Louis Vuitton hand bags, to North Face outerwear, Prada, Chanel, shoes and even the world’s most beloved iPods are being counterfeited and sold on eBay. I do admit that there are millions of legit sales transactions taking place everyday on eBay, but for every legit sale, there are at least a few dozen illegal ones. I never would have guessed that I would be a victim of fraudulent activities, but when I recently bought a pair of Michael Jordan basketball shoes and received an AWFUL rendition of the real thing, I was quite upset. It was so bad that it looked fake. Now I know I was supposed to read the fine print and double check the seller, I did, but I guess my efforts were not good enough. The picture that was taken of the shoes were great, everything looked fine, but it wasn’t until I was able to hold them in my hands and try them on did I realize that I had been ripped off. Quite disappointing, there is a first time for everything and I sure hope that this is my LAST time letting some super merchant rip me off. Well, I suppose that the one statement which always seems to hold true in every circumstance is, “if it seems to good to be true, well it is.” I think mom said it best and I think she was right. Test Your Knowledge, Which One Is Fake Which One Is Real?

According the series and make of these shoes, the shoes on the left are Fake, while the shoes on the right are Authentic. The color variation sets these two shoes apart. The color on the left was never released, proving that it is a fake. Remember folks, if the deal is too good, it may not be a good deal at all. Please, read the fine print. I sure didn’t, or atleast not well enough.

I recently bought a ~$700 DVD collection on ebay that looked legit, but turned out to be bootleg. The seller had a long history, and a very high feedback with a lot of items. But once the auction ended and item was shipped, the seller instantly dropped off the grid (no longer has an ebay account). I tried the resolution process through PayPal, but they denied my claim. How can we prevent this type of thing from happening to others? Is there any other way to get PayPal to appeal the decision?

wow i didnt get it right the fake one looked alot better to me.
I Love wearing evisu and coogi sometimes I buy my stuff off the streets. the reason i do is because these companies are going crazy like jordan with there shoe that cost $3 to make that turns into a $149+ shoe I dont see how there labor on there shoe can be any higher then the other shoes.
Ive looked into the fake jordan field and the people that are making the jordans mostly are people that work for or worked for nike and just was tired of making 1-$3 an hour making these shoes. to making $8 a shoe that they sell. thats alot of money to them.
but I understand the jordan has to make money but when do we think who is really getting ripped off when they come out with a shoe every week seems like i remember when it was every month.
now its down to every week.
with a shoe that cost $2 to $3 to make turns into $149+ shoe and all there doing is mixing shoes together almost no original designs at all.
come on.
