With the recent youtube video with the kids calling their cellphones to make kernels of popcorn pop, I have just been pondering this question more and more. I know that this was a hoax and cellphones are not capable of doing something of this magnitude. But, I can’t help but to think of all of those scientific journals and all of the medical research that said that the waves produced in cell phones can give you cancer and tumors in the brain. It’s hard to not think of these things when viewing the video. Cell phones do emit radiofrequencies and due to the number of rising users, I believe it’s a fare question. The ability to affect the body would depend on the signal strength and amount of time the cell phone is used and how often. There have been ongoing studies and investigations for years and most of them state that there is no direct link between cell phone use and cancer. However, others indicate that there is an increased risk of cancer to the cell phone usage. But, like everything else, the answer is in the eye of the beholder.
How many other products such as artificial sweeteners and tofu have been in the media for their positive affects on health, but yet a few years latter, were dismissed as pure health hazards.
