Use Storify to Quickly Create a Blog Post
I read dozens, if not hundreds, of tech and social media related blog posts every day, as well as tweets from hundreds of friends and others whom I follow for interesting news covering a range of topics. While I retweet some of this content, there is no doubt others consume similar information and would like to expand upon it and share it in the form of a blog post. Curating content is one of the easiest ways to generate ideas for a blog post, and also one of the quickest. Being able to insert this content for context can not only make a blog post better, but also save the time of rewriting it or summarizing it yourself.
Storify is a relatively new service that bloggers can use to quickly create a blog post. Storify allows users to search for a wide range of content throughout their social networks and embed each piece of media into a story consisting of all of these pieces of media. Storify is often used by news outlets to curate a series of tweets to show the evolution of a conversation about a story, or even a story itself by showing blog posts, video, and related tweets to news in the order they developed.
Bloggers can use these same features to quickly create a list of favorite content — such as in a recap for the week — and optionally add commentary to complete a personal blog post. To find your favorite content as quickly as possible, you can favorite Tweets throughout the day or week for easy access when compiling a Storify story, create a customized RSS feed of your favorite blog posts (which can be accomplished quickly by using Instapaper), or by searching YouTube, Flickr, or Facebook for keywords to retrieve a specific conversation or piece of media.
After you compile your favorite media, or otherwise create a story using Storify, you can generate an embed code to paste into the HTML code of a new blog post, which will then embed your entire Storify in your blog. Getting used to the process of finding favorite media may take time initially, but using Storify could save you hours per week if you create blog posts often.
