How to Create a Google Profile

Your Google profile is the way you present yourself on Google products and across the web. With your Google profile, you can manage information such as your bio, contact details, and links to other sites about you or created about you that people may see when they search for you on Google. Your first and last name and photo will always be public, and you can provide additional details about yourself, such as an introduction, bragging rights, occupation, employment, education, places you have lived, home, relationship status, looking for, and nicknames. You can also enable your profile to allow people to contact you without providing contact information, as well as set your Google profile’s search visibility. However, if someone has your Gmail address, they can find your profile using this email address.

Your Google Profile will also contain information about your participation in Google programs, such as Buzz, PicasaWeb, and +1. If you’re using Google +1, your Google Profile will list all the sites you have +1d and recommended. You can remove anything you have +1d here, as well, so that they will no longer show up in your +1 network’s search results. For more information about how to use or enable Google’s new social network, +1, click here.

You can also access your Google profile from other Google sites such as from Gmail.

Your Google Profile provides options to do things such as change your name in your Google Profile, which will affect all products you use with Google – such as Gmail (but only if you send emails with your default Google Account name.) You can also delete your profile, but keep in mind that deleting your Google profile won’t delete your entire Google Account.
