Promoted Tweets Start Appearing in TweetDeck

It appears that Promoted Tweets have started appearing in TweetDeck. In September, Twitter announced it was bringing “promoted tweets”  to third-party apps. However, only Hootsuite publicly confirmed plans to include promoted tweets within the streams of tweets in its app. Twitter.com began displaying promoted tweets last year.

Today, Promoted Tweets began appearing in TweetDeck users’ streams. These tweets “stick” at the top of columns and are marked with “Promoted by [Twitter Name]” under the tweet. It is unknown how long promoted tweets remain “stickied” at the top of Tweetdeck columns, or if these options can be varied by the advertising. There is also no option in Tweetdeck to turn off Promoted Tweets, unlike in Hootsuite, where you can upgrade, at a cost, to avoid Promoted Tweets.

Previously, advertisements on Twitter have only appeared on Twitter.com, and users who accessed Twitter through apps like TweetDeck didn’t see Promoted Tweets. Twitter charges for these tweets on a cost: advertisers pay whenever someone clicks through to a link, retweets the ad, or follows the advertiser. Now that Tweetdeck is showing promoted tweets, it will be interesting to see if and when Tweetdeck allows users to pay to opt-out out of Promoted Tweets.

Have you started seeing Promoted Tweets in TweetDeck? Would you pay to opt-out of advertising on TweetDeck?

I’ve been Twitter for almost two years now and see no problems with “Promoted Advertisements Tweets.” It’s called “Making The Money!” It was bound to happen and these 3rd-party Twitter Apps like Hootsuite and TweetDeck are good progams. So who cares if there’s some advertisements? I don’t. Having a pay by the user to opt out of seeing “Promoted Advertisements Tweets” is ok too. Additional way of making a buck $$$.

Look at all the advertisements on this page! My Gosh! I think the “Promoted Advertisements” on Twitter with Tweets posted on Hootsuite and TweetDeck will be far less by comparison.

“Observing & Reporting” you can follow FiremanRich on Twitter with advertisements, wich I don’t give a Hoot because I use Hootsuite! : )

    Ciao For Now!
    Peace : )

I love using Tweetdeck. But I will use something else if I need to. I get that they need to make money, but how long will this ad stay in the way? I get it, you want me to buy your car.

I understand making money and ads are the way to do it when providing a free service. But there are other free services out there, so if necessary, I will find a different one.
