I recently found out a social network called Pandora radio. At first I didn’t really want to sign up for it because I was already subscribed to last.fm. But I signed up for Pandora, I soon grew to love it. I am using at the moment and it is great service. I have been hooked on it. I hardly ever use Windows Media Player or Winamp or even iTuns at all anymore. Not to say I don’t like them at all. Plus itunes tend to run a lot of system resources when idling and I don’t like the fact that it sucks up my processing power. That’s one reason why I tend not to use it anymore.
The reason I like Pandora is because I can mix all the music I like into one play list or quick mix. With itunes Is that I’d have to put it on shuffle but even with that It doesn’t always know what I like. But with Pandora it knows what I like and it does a decent job of mixing up my music so I don’t have to hear five or six alternative rock songs, then I hear one or two classic rock then it might go back to alternative rock. It doesn’t do that. It does a decent job of mixing it up for me.
I do on the other hand, hate when Pandora radio plays the same song over and over. Sometimes it plays it in the same day, sometimes it plays it the next day. I don’t like that it does that at all. I have had to tell it to stop playing some songs for awhile because I’ve heard them to often in a very short span. Even when I tell it that I don’t like a certain song it will still play it. I really wish it has a little bit more variety of music and not play the same songs over and over at times. I think over time this will get better and It will start to do a better job of mixing up songs.
I stopped using last.fm because I couldn’t bookmark a song in my play list. I was using a desktop client that gave me little power to unban or make a mix at all. I guess that’s why I was turned off by last.fm, It didn’t offer any sort of method of allowing me to control what I wanted to listen to. Maybe I wasn’t actually going to the site and I didn’t make a playlist, whatever. I just don’t use last.fm anymore. Pandora is much more powerful and I will continue to use it. It just needs a few minor changes before I can truly come to love it.
