To dual or to not dual monitor

I use to be someone who always used one monitor to get stuff done. Once I got my second monitor I haven’t gone back to one monitor. Having one monitor is nice but you cant get as much work done. Right now as I type this and you read this I am using two monitors. My laptop and my 20″ LCD monitor. Most of my application are on the 20″ LCD and I have firefox full screen on my laptop. I can actually get my blogs done and not be distracted. I don’t have enough money to get another 20″ LCD for my desktop. But when I get the money I will really enjoy 40″ of monitor space.

Not only does having two monitors make it easier for you to get your work done you can drag multiple applications around from monitor to monitor. You can be more efficient in your work and not have to be moving applications around just to find what you were working on. I have found my self sometimes struggling to get things done because of one monitor. Having two monitors is like being spoiled. Then you realize later that’s actually a luxury to have.

Most gamers aren’t in to dual monitors because it wont help there gaming experience. A lot of geeks who need to get work done and want to get it done fast use two monitors. As they say “Time is money” The more time you spend getting stuff done the faster it gets done. The more productive you can be as well. You can be working on two word documents and get them both done at the same time.

The bigger the screen is the more applications you can fit on the monitors. “Bigger is better” I can tell you that having two monitors has helped me get homework done faster and even my blogs on lockergnome. I am a lot less distracted and can focus on one task at one time and it helps me do better in school. My family thinks I am crazy and asking why I need two monitors. “I can get more done and I can be a lot more produtive.” They think all I do all day is surf the web and talk in IRC chat rooms. Well I always tell them ” I have to do homework on my computer, and turn it in over the internet. ”

Do you use two or more monitors. If so has it helped you get more done? Has it saved you time? Do you feel more productive, and more efficient, Can you live with one monitor? Would it be hard to get much work done as you need to one a daily basis? How big are your monitors and do you use them for school or work or both? I would love some feedback.
