The Gunslinger and The Dark Tower

I recently wrote a friend of mine that Stephen King’s Dark Tower series is “awesome” and very much worth reading. She asked me to justify my views, thus:
The Dark Tower - it’s something like a romance, which talks of the last gunslinger Roland Deschain, and his quest to reach the Dark Tower, which is the nexus of power for the entire universe and is slowly beginning to fail, making all kinds of things go awry.
I love the endless depths of space that those books portray, as well as a very real sense of character - even the hero Roland is flawed, and that makes him so much more noble and real nonetheless. The first book is called “The Gunslinger” and I highly recommend it. Lots of fantasy in it, don’t worry. And Steve’s use of language, sometimes is both enlightening and disturbing - masterful.
