ShadowMyth’s Archives: Stressful Situations

This excerpt is from an area of the Book of Remembering, with the exclusive purpose of aiding me in difficult times. Often when things are hectic, traumatic situations have occurred, or our emotions are not on an even keel, we are unable to make clear choices and decisions. I created this area of my book, to aid me under such conditions. This is only a small partial list, but perhaps some of this advice can help you in difficult times also.

From the Book of Remembering:

  • Stop, assess, think things through.
  • Relax, do not allow situations to stress you out. Do muscle checks, and take notice of breathing.
  • If need be, do something like physical energy work, to relax the body and soul. It may be necessary to treat with natural herbs and such.
  • Do not make decisions under duress, unless an absolute emergency should make it necessary.
  • If for any reason your mind is cloudy, and you cannot think straight, do whatever tasks you can be sure of, until your mind clears. Work toward clearing the mind.
  • Do not make extreme decisions when very elated, wait a little while to be sure you are not being carried away by the high of a positive or extreme moment.
  • Pay attention to the details around you. Use all of your senses to understand your situation.
  • Progress is not found through running a marathon, pace yourself. Step by step, inch by inch. Even the most extreme or emergency situation can be aided by taking things step by step, and paying attention to detail.
  • Perfection is not found in a regimen of strictness to rule, but in living in the moment to the greatest degree of your capacity. Allow yourself to be truly present.
  • Utilize whatever resources are available to you, and be creative with what you have.
  • Do not get tangled up in the web of human affairs.
  • Change your perceptions, and you change the rules.
  • Do not live by strict and rigid regimens, but allow yourself to flow into the patterns of your creation naturally and rhythmically.
  • Do not create impossible expectations for yourself that you cannot meet up to, but be patient with yourself, taking things step by step.
  • Do not focus on what should be, but what can be.
