What I Got for $9 Today

  • No Related Post

I went out yard saling today, and scored pretty well. To get good deals, shop toward the end of the day, especially on Sunday. People are often wanting to just get rid of their stuff by this point, and will sell it for a steal, or give it away for free. I was able to gather the following items together within an hour. We were on our way home from an appointment, and making a few stops along the way didn’t even add to our gas mileage.

  • 2 lamp shades
  • Coleman lantern
  • ergonomic desk chair
  • book holder
  • wooden box
  • 2 man tent
  • brand new, never used professional artist’s easel
  • 3 decorative bottles
  • 1 basket
  • collection of spice jars
  • door snake
  • curling iron
  • desk lamp
  • working DVD player

Not only did we get a lot of cool stuff for almost nothing, but we met some really cool people too!

Not really, it could all fit into the backseat of a car. The chair was one of those things without a back, and the easel was compacted. Some of it was gifts for my daughter’s new home she’ll be moving into soon with her fiance. I am not one to stock up on stuff, but I am one to make money or a trade off of it. Stuff just has to be maintained, I try to live light.

Awesome finds! I once bought a photo darkroom setup at a garage sale for $25 (he was asking $35) which I took to a camera dealer to exchange for a Minolta X370 SLR with two lenses, tripod, flash, and a check for $150. This is my best score so far.

Wow, that is cool! I am always hearing those stories about famous paintings accidentally sold at yard sales, or some ancient treasure worth millions….I keep looking!
