Kid’s Violent Drawing Gets Him Suspended

[tags]funny, incompetence[/tags]

I made this post, and thanks to a comment on the blog post my eyes have been opened to the action taken by the school officials. They must be very careful because it is better to look like a fool and prevent something serious from happening than be lax and have something serious happen:

Wow, all I can say is that I am glad that kids like this didn’t exist when I went to middle school. This kid should have been expelled for his drawing of a gun.

A 13-year-old boy has been suspended for three days by an Arizona public school because he sketched a picture that resembled a gun, something school officials said they “absolutely” believed could pose a threat.

Here’s the offending picture:

When will the madness end?

Blame it on the idiots before him…I see your point and I hope this type of thing doesn’t get out of control where we are all afraid to even express ourselves. That said, before I had kids I might have agreed this is over the top…now, it’s not a clear cut opinion. If you have kids you know what I mean..if you don’t, get some…you’ll understand quickly. My brother once said, He’d rather be overly cautious and keep his children safe then worry about what others thought and lose them forever…how true. All it takes is a split second…are you willing to take that chance (hint: a parent will give a definitive NO)? Give the school officials a break…they are having to deal with a wide range of mental states and unfortunately some parents simply don’t do their job OR in the worst of cases their children just develop a violent attitude even with a caring environment at home. You just never know. I would like to know WHY this child was drawing a school on fire–might be interesting to know…has anyone asked him? Maybe he overheard someone else talking of burning down the school and that just popped into his head to draw. Worth asking. Peace…
