OK, so it has been a slow news day for both myself and for Reuters. Hence the ‘big news’ regarding Google and Clear Channel.
Clear Channel Communications Inc. (CCU.N: Quote, Profile, Research) has struck an exclusive deal to use Google Inc.’s (GOOG.O: Quote, Profile, Research) search engine on its radio station Web sites, according to a internal memo obtained by Reuters.
Beginning this month, the company’s seven million Clear Channel radio listeners who visit their Web sites will be able to make Google searches directly from Clear Channel’s sites, the Clear Channel memo to its staff said.
The San Antonio-based radio conglomerate declined comment.
Clear Channel is also deploying Google’s paid search service that serves up advertising based on search terms.
In the near future, the company also plans to display sponsored links from Google that will appear at the bottom of news articles across Clear Channel’s sites. Source: Reuters
