Google has been hard at work with a new Euro-Retail search engine. In essence, it expands on Google Base and therefore will allow online retailers to plug right into some pretty amazing technology.
The service, expands on Google Base, a recently-launched database available as a beta test, into a platform where retailers can list shop details and product and service information.
The service is already available in the US and is now being rolled out in Europe.
Google said the service will provide a ‘virtual supermarket’, requesting companies to submit details of their goods and prices indexing the information into the new search engine.
Retailers will not be able to sell goods through the site, meaning the service will now compete with traditional online retailers like Amazon and eBay.
Launched in November 2005, Google Base lets users post a range of information online that is then indexed and made seachable on Google Search, Froogle and Google Local. Source: Netimperative
