Search, Reputation and Affinity Spur Long Tail of Films

Today, access to films, videos and movies is generally restricted to those few thousand commercial titles that can be fit in the limited physical shelf space of a Blockbuster shop and which, due to their popularity justify the cost of such effort.

But things are starting to change.

Online clearinghouses, powerful new search tools, affinity and reputation engines are opening the way both for carrying unlimited inventory of movies through online distributors as well as for facilitating serendipitous discovery of titles one would have never known about before.

The Long Tail of films is just starting to show its huge potential and these are the reasons why it will radically change the way we will look at movies and the way we select the ones that we are going to watch.
