If you are thinking that using anything Vladimir Putin says is going to sway most people in your argument, you're mistaken. Putin is proving himself to be an 'old guard' Russian, following in the footsteps of Nikita Khrushchev.

Actually, sanctions is a very good way of getting a point across, yet doing nothing provocative. (see Cuban Missile Crisis).

Iran is a country that, in the light of the idiots running this country right now, does not want to ally itself with too many others, because an Islamic nation of large proportions would feed right into the plans of W and Darth Cheney. These men would find some method for obliterating a large portion of the Middle East (with care to not touch Israel or the oil fields) and then quickly play up the "they hate us for our freedom' and 'fighting them there, so we don't have to fight them here' cards.

Sometimes I wonder the same things, it seems that Osama has had numerous videos these past few weeks. I don't know how difficult it is to catch someone who has a new video publication every few weeks or so, but our government is having a very hard time doing so. It is also very interesting that people would like to push for political efficacy among the people, but its hard to promote something of the such, when our elected officials have shown a great lack of knowledge in particular areas, this being just one example.
