When I noticed that David Berlind, the Executive Editor of ZDNet is speaking on podcasting at the upcoming Syndicate conference, I couldn’t resist inviting him to do an audio interview on the greatest challenges of podcasting, especially since this is a topic we haven’t covered in great depth here before.
David was actually the first person at CNET to start podcasting and has since become a well-known podcaster, while becoming a sound technician himself. Namely, instead of treating podcasting as an amateur’s night out, these guys believe that one of the keys to successful podcasting is the actual sound quality … something that I personally often forget.
Anyway, just some of the topics covered in the interview …
a] What’s the revenue model for podcasting? Do advertising and podcasting, for example, mix well?
b] The business challenges of podcasting.
c] The technical challenges of podcasting, starting with your recording tools. David is constantly experimenting with different podcasting tools and shares his findings in the interview.
d] How important, and why, is actual audio quality?
e] Podcasting content strategies.
f] Why and how is podcasting changing the media landscape?
