I have been familiar with Comic Alert! for sometime now. In simplest terms, this service allows its users to receive alerts to their favorite comics. The alerts can be received through both email or RSS, it just depends on how the user wants to receive them.

My thoughts on this service vary. Being it is the only service like this out there, I think it is great for what it is. My only beef is that it has not been updated since at least October from what I have seen. Still, if there are comics here that you enjoy, then I would encourage you to subscribe to the ones that appeal to you the most.

Finding RSS sources for web comics used to be difficult, and most often impossible (they just didn’t exist). Comic Alert! began by filling that void and providing free RSS feeds to comics of all sizes. Soon after launching we realized that RSS is a pretty new technology as far as the internet public at large are concerned, and so we began providing email alerts and “recently updated” web pages as well.

Building on that groundwork and an expanding user base, we began developing a variety of features that help you find new comics that you’ll enjoy, provide feedback to the comic artists, and find old comic strips you half remember.
