U.S. Government Learns the Power of RSS

  • No Related Post

The U.S. government is normally the last part of American society to adopt the latest technology, but they are now starting to get on the RSS bandwagon. The National Agricultural Statistics Service began offering RSS feeds for some of its news in early November, the latest sign that RSS technology is being embraced by the mainstream.

Also offering RSS feeds is the U.S. Department of State, NASA (including the popular “Picture of the Day”), and the state of Delaware.

Dave Winer makes a strong point in the Wired news article; “Governments should provide information,” he said. “The more formats they support, the more useful it’s going to be.” Hopefully more agencies will adopt RSS as they see the power it has to bring information to the masses.
