Flickr RSS Feeds

Flickr is a service that allows you to store, sort, and share your images via a browser. They have a slick interface (written in Flash) that allows you to upload and manipulate your images in a variety of ways. The number of things you can do with your images is too numerous to list here, but check out their site for more details.

One of the things I like about Flickr is the method they use to categorize photos. They use a system called “tags”, where each image can be “tagged”. They make the list of all tags on their system public (a very large page), and they also have a page that displays the 150 most popular tags.

So what does this have to do with RSS? Each tag has an RSS feed. It’s kind of interesting to subscribe to a tag that you want to watch and see what people are taking shots of. I live in Colorado, so naturally I am interested in the Colorado tag. I have Colorado tag’s RSS feed in NetNewsWire, and each day I get to see some new images people have uploaded and tagged with Colorado. It’s a cool service. Check it out!
