Publish Goes RSS

Publish, one of the reference magazines for communication specialists and Web publishing professionals, has entered the fray and is offering a set of RSS feeds to its contents. You can now get the latest news and information as soon as it’s available by utilizing any one of their three specialized RSS feeds: 1) News 2) Best Practices, 3) Tips/Shortcuts. There is also a fourth aggregated feed that carries all of the news together.
already noted yesterday for another publication, PDFZone (n.d.r: same publishing group - Connexus Media Network) is that these RSS feeds require submission of your name and email…something quite opposite ot the original spirit of RSS.
It is possible that publishers as Connexus Media Network believe that the value to the end user of very specialized information channels is such that they are willing and open to submit their email address in exchange of such free service.
What do you think?
RSS feeds have as much potential when you are required to submit your personal email?
(As you may find out likely on your own, Connexus Media has indeed left some leeway for multiple target groups to obtain their RSS feeds; with…or without email.)
