“In November 2003 - Information Outfitters dusted off the TIPWORLD brand and reintroduced it to a waiting audience of tip-loving users. However, unlike the TIPWORLD of the past, the new TIPWORLD does not deliver tips via email. The all new TIPWORLD provides tips on the world-wide-web and via a daily RSS feed.”
The End of RSS: It was a freight train headed my way for some time, I could see the pressure building weeks in advance. Middle last week the levy finally broke through, first at 10pm, then at 6pm, finally at about noon:

Gary Lawrence Murphy is being bombarded with RSS requests. Where is the syndication in RSS when majority of RSS feeds are directly consumed? With a good RSS news aggregator, it’s just too easy to subscribe and forget. Are you as vigilant in unsubscribing from uninteresting feeds as you are in subscribing to […]
Rich Site Summary feeds, better known as RSS, are a great example of how XML is making a major impact in regards to the way information is consumed. This XML dialect is a popular format for summarizing information, typically, but not exclusively news-oriented data consisting of common attributes like a title, summary, author, and publish […]
WIFLblog points out The National Weather Service has RSS feeds listing advisories, warnings, and watches by state and territory. Very cool!
Via Geek News Central: “Are you a programmer or website developer? If so I need some help and I am willing to pay for that help. I have a desire to add some features to this site… We want to do something similar to what they are doing at newsisfree.com but on a much smaller […]
Via the Seattle Post Intelligencer: “Pirillo gave what I thought was an enjoyable speech, talking extensively about RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds and news aggregators, the method of reading RSS feeds from weblogs and news sites. (By the way, you can get the RSS feed for this site by clicking on the XML logo on […]

Robert Scoble and Diego Doval have been having an interesting conversation about, among other things, whether RSS is viewed as part of the Web or not:
Diego Duval: “RSS is not anti-web, RSS is the web at its best.”
I guess Diego missed the fact that we had an RSS news aggregator built into Longhorn already. I […]
Via mezzoblue: “This is 90% of your viewing audience. Even if you have a core of more educated, technically-inclined users, you’re still creating confusion. My first (and second, and many subsequent) exposures to the links caused momentary doubt. Why would I be seeing raw XML? What broke here, me or them? What is this XML […]
Via Jason Nadal: “The answer is to use the file from the SDK on the DVD. This link will only work if you have the Longhorn SDK installed. It shows where you can download the full set of files as a ZIP, and extract it out. Simply extract to a folder, open up […]
Via nf0’s Life: “We’ve been asked to add a new feature to wishlists, and yea verily, it has been done. You guys asked for RSS feeds for wishlists, and it is now available. To see it in action or to get the appropriate URL for your own wishlist(s), just go into your account and head […]
Via the very intelligent Library Stuff:
“Smartmoney.com is now offering the following feeds in several RSS formats. These feeds are free of charge, as long as you do not post the full-text of the stories and that you provide proper attribution to Smartmoney.com. Proper attribution can be either text, such as ‘Smartmoney.com,’ or this 65×31 logo, […]
Via The Seattle Times: “Push was pushy, and it overwhelmed corporate and home network capacities, dumping more information on users than they would ever want. This also came at a time when the norm was pretty slow data-transmission speeds. Push died an ugly and rapid death. RSS, an acronym that doesn’t expand to any one […]
Via WOLves: “Like anything else, whether it be a hard-copy magazine or even an e-mailed newsletter, any item intended for public consumption must be promoted. An RSS feed doesn’t do much of that - you can’t depend on that entirely to inform the public that you’re there and waiting for subscribers. I won’t go in […]
Via Adverblog: “I believe the main issue about RSS’ marketing potentials is connected to the information overload. There are tons of softwares installed on our computers: browsers, email readers, instant messengers, p2p, toolbars, desktop alerts, etc. We get messages from everywhere, either in push or pull way (and I’m just considering computer mediated communication!). At […]
“Previously, there was no way to read RSS feeds from Editors-Only Manila sites using an RSS news reader, because Manila uses a cookie for authentication. This feature makes it possible to subscribe to RSS feeds in Editors-Only Manila sites using any RSS news reader which supports HTTP authentication. This is especially useful for people who […]
