iPhone 3G and still no MMS or video recording

As many will know the iPhone 3G was launched at WWDC 08. During the keynote Apple showed off the new iPhone which has had a slight case redesign the metal back has gone to be replaced by a full plastic case for better signal and for the new gps chip.

Apple also showed off the iPhone SDK, which does look amazing, and last they showed some of the new features of the new 2.0 firmware but one of the things the iPhone has been missing is mms alot of people have been asking for this since day pne of the iPhone almost a year ago.

The only reason I can see that Apple has not introduced MMS is the fact that they do not want you to share your music or other media that has been purchased on the iTunes music store. Another thing people have been craving for is video recording on the iPhone. I am not quite sure why they have not added this yet as it is one the most asked for additions to the iPhone, With the launch of the app store there might be a third party application that can ad these missing features to the iPhone. Although I do love the phone, it’s still not perfect.

I have to admit I was disappointed that there were no options for recording video or sending mms as well. However I’m still optimistic that there will be 3rd party apps available from the App Store that will address the sorely lacking features…

Crosses fingers there free!

I can’t really understand why Apple would not include these features as basically every other phone I can remember of the top of my head has these features as standard. I guess we will soon know the score once the App Store is launched :)

The new iphone is still not perfect however I crunched my iPhone screen last week & having to revert to ‘aNOtheKIAer” phone - believe me dudes & dudettes the iPhone is a towering giant in a handset universe populated by technologically challenged midgets. MMS would be a logical app to give out free though…..I wonder what’s on Apple’s mind?

I just got off the phone with Apple t/s. The man said that he understood my concerns about no MMS support. I told him it is ridiculous that my $50 Shine can do video and pics via MMS. He said they’ve had many, many “corporate” complaints about those features not being implemented with 3G. I asked if the developers @ AAPL are going to do something to remedy this (ie, build support into the next release of iPhone firmware. He said they are very aware of the problem and that they are working on it. He had no firm dates for the next release or guarantees that those 2 features will be implemented, but he said he thinks they will implement them “soon”. I pressed hiim farther and he said in the next month or two they should have an updated available and to just “keep checking on iTunes for the update”. I told him there are several jailbreaking programs available to be able to send multi media messages. He replied that using them would void the warranty. SO, I guess we’ll all just have to wait. When they fix this, then I’ll be happy with the phone :-)
