I was looking on one of my new favorite sites and came across this little monster.
This is Hideo Takano’s Mac Mini Pro the spec’s are not bad at all, He has upgraded the processor to a 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, It has 2 GB of ram and believe it or not there is a 500 GB 3.5 inch hard drive not the usual 2.5 inch hard drive. The new hard drive sits behind a removable side panel of a case which is 100% custom made, the case also features a front power button and also a USB port. The case dimensions are 7.8 inch tall, 3.28 inch wide and 6.5 inch deep. all i can say about this mod is that it looks fantastic and with that 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 2 GB of ram it will be a little screamer, I only wish apple would offer the 2.33 GHz processor in a stock mini.

This mod is cool and would be great if someone was able to produce the casing as an expansion enclosure, maybe retain the internal HD and make the whole new casing a simple means of hooking up a short rear patch USB that provides the front power button and USB socket (maybe a firewire too and audio?) - a kind of cooler looking lacie stack external drive system providing the new look of a pro and a HD caddy on the side fro 3.5″ drives + cooling.
Apple wont whack the higher speed CPU’s in yet becasue of heating issues. The macbook 2ghz gets hot enough based on similar cooling. MNaybe when the make the minis with 45nm CPUS they can whack higher clocks in there as their WATT heat dissapation will be less than the current 65NM.
