Mac OS X, Is it really that great?

To be honest, I’ve haven’t gotten that much time on Mac OS X. I’ve used it about three times and every time I have used it I’ve never really seen anything too spectacular. From what I saw when I first used it, It pretty much looks like a heavily modified Ubuntu. I know that OS X is based on Unix and you can get most Linux apps to runs on OS X, I mean hell, OS X still uses the Sudo command. So it’s really not that far from being classified as Linux.
However I’ve always wanted to use OS X some more. I’ve spent many days trying to find a cheap way in to get a Mac and they only thing I found is either Building a Hackintosh, Buying a G5 Mac Pro, or Getting a Mac Mini. Even doing those are not that cheap.
But really, what does OS X have to offer that Windows doesn’t? Pretty much nothing. You can get the same or even better apps on Windows, or Linux. I mean sure. I want iLife. But what else does OS X have to offer? Sure, they have a good amount of OpenSource programs. But really how many of those opensource projects will I really use? I donno. I’m still a Windows Fanboy at hart. But I’ll give anything a shot.
