Uh-Oh, SpaghettiOs! Campbell’s Recalls 15 Million Pounds Of The Tasty Noodles

Campbell’s says that its cookers in a Texas plant that cans SpahettiOs may have not cooked the meat properly, so to be safe, it is recalling 15 million pounds, which equals 35,000 cases. But not to worry. The company believes that most of the food has most likely been consumed and there have not been any reports of illness or death being blamed on the bad noodles and meat.  The recalled stuff includes the following:

Recalled are certain lots of three varieties of the pasta product often consumed by children: SpaghettiOs with Meatballs, SpaghettiOs A to Z with Meatballs, and SpaghettiOs Fun Shapes with Meatballs (Cars).

Here are the codes:

If you have any of cans in your home, return them to where you bought them ASAP.

PS ‘Tasty noodles’ in the title refers to what my grandkids think this is — not me. I am not a SpaghettiOs fan! LOL

  2. Wait… So do they have to expire in June only? Because all mine have the same code as in the picture but they expire October 2011. I’m not too worried though, I’ve eaten like 5 cans of these already.

And they are too tasty noodles! :P

      Heh Gavin,
      I think you are safe.
My wife agrees with you. She loves her O’s. LOL

  3. Ok update on this, I checked out some other sources, and it has a date a to date b recall. Here’s a clip:

“The recall includes 14.75 ounce cans with a use-by date between June 2010 and December 2011 and the plant code: “E-S-T-4-K.”"

Also, I’ve had four or five cans since I read this article, and two of those were two hours apart and as the only food I ate of the day, and I can tell you that it doesn’t harm you – too much. The day I ate two cans and had just that for all my food of the day (I slept in way too late!), I felt really really queezy a few minutes after eating the second can. I didn’t end up with anything nasty coming out. Either end. LOL.

But I’d take precautions. Cook it an extra 15 or 30 seconds and let it sit. Then you get the excitement of exploding meatballs in the microwave! Or you can just put them in a pan and cook them on the stove. Just don’t accidentally leave them on for three hours. They are impossible to clean out then! (YES, that happened to me. Before I realized you could microwave them, I was making them, set the timer, and walked downstairs. I usually take the timer with me, so I didn’t think much of it until three hours later when I said to myself “Geez, I’m hungry.” Then I was like LOLWAT!? and I went upstairs and it was all crusty and brown. Nasty. And it took another two hours to clean. I was SO hungry afterwards!)

Anyway, I’ll do some more testing soon and eat the remaining four or five cans, and I’ll post here if anything bad happens. I haven’t felt anything when I just ate one can in a day and had other meals, so I don’t think MOST people should be in trouble. Just weird Spaghetti-O addicts, or people like me who ran out of Hot Pockets and fell back on the tasty noodles!

I am so rambly tonight! 5AM!? When did that happen!? UGH.
