Conan O’Brien Heads To TBS To Start His Own Late Night Show

Posted by on Apr 12, 2010 | 22 Comments

In what could only be described as a surprise, the former Late Night Show host Conan O’Brien is heading over to TBS to host his very own late night show. While some of the terms are still not available, one source confirms that the deal with Conan O’Brien is his biggest financial deal as of yet. Another words the folks at TBS have paid a huge sum to land the late night host.

According to one source it also stated:

The news is being announced on the same day O’Brien opens a nationwide live comedy tour in Eugene, Oregon. It’s also the opening day of the National Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas — ironic, given the shift of a major broadcast brand to the wired world.

“In three months I’ve gone from network television to Twitter to performing live in theaters, and now I’m headed to basic cable,” O’Brien said. “My plan is working perfectly.”

O’Brien’s new show, based in Los Angeles, is expected to air original episodes four nights a week, one night less than when he was on NBC but in line with the production pattern for [George] Lopez, Jon Stewart and Jimmy Kimmel.

The deal with TBS is the latest stunning development in what’s been a nearly four-month rollercoaster ride for the artist now known as Coco. There’d been talk about O’Brien shifting to cable, but most of the buzz had him considering a shift to Comedy Central or FX.

Though George Lopez also hosts a comedy show on TBS, Conan O’Brien’s show could be a bigger draw. Conan has a following that I am sure will follow him anywhere. Plus there is one other thing about O’Brien. The man is funny. He will pose a real challenge to the network TV stations who have traditionally dominated late night TV for comedy content.

But will O’Brien be able to pull in a large audience? What do you think?

Comments welcome.

Coco will have no problem drawing viewers to his new show. I remember the first night his show was on the air. It was the first time I burst a blood vessel in my eye from laughing so hard. It’s been years and he’s developed a large and loyal following. I look forward to the show.

I think O’Brien’s draw will be the same, as on NBC. I personally never cared for his brand of humor, but those who love it, will follow him. Hopefully, his whole crew will be there with him, that is what he expressed at the beginning of all this mess. I wish him well, but in all honesty, his ratings will never beat The Tonight Show or David Letterman’s show.

Conan will have no problem bringing in viewers. His following is huge and I agree with the article…his fans will follow him anywhere. We’ve seen his success on Twitter and anything else he’s done. This will be no exception. Can’t wait to see him on TV again!

Some of this article seems to read like this: “Please do not venture outside of authorized dogma of pure thought and the authorized safety zones. Please keep your mind in the borg at all times. Any deviation may make assimilation unpossible.” lol.

I won’t blame who does I mean. The internet is some treacherous place. One must have the right judgement and Common sense. and sometimes EVEN when your judgement and common sense is there things could still go wrong. xD Its the misconception of people oversharing things they JUST shouldn’t share or believe.

I love how PC people make the comment, “security through anonymity” as if hackers are NOT aware of Mac OS X and that there aren’t 120 MILLION Macs out there. What exactly constitutes Anonymity? Last time I heard, hackers get cred for being the FIRST to infect a security platform. I would assume that launching a massive virus attack against Mac OS X would be the the ULTIMATE COUP.

      it’s already happened. see here

and these days, it’s not the small time hacker seeking fame that is of concern. it’s the organized rings of real criminals. this latter group have no interest is bragging rights and fame, and they are interested in the biggest target market. 10% of Macs or 90% of PCs? it’s not hard to figure out.

I’m reminded of a woman who was giving a sermon comparing life to a car with faith as the engine, prayer as the fuel, etc. Finally, she was ready for the big finale and said, “Remember, the most important part of any car, is the nut the holds the wheel.”

Well, the nut at the keyboard also is important. So many times I hear people complain about a Facebook “privacy flaw.” But the “flaw” was that the person themselves posted personal information in a status update. Others have blamed “the internet” for doing stupid things like flying off to the other side of the country to stay with someone they met online and ended up in a bad situation. It was bad judgement not bad internet.

I can’t agree more with you. People just tend to go and blame it on the internet OR website. Its just a case of bad judgment and lack of common sense.

I currently have my major devices on my network named after the Space Shuttles, my two major servers to be exact (webserver named Columbia and VOIP server named Challenger).

Greek mythology FTW, I named my network devices after several characters of the Iliad, e.g. the server is called Menelaos, while the smartphone does its job under the name of Patroclos. :)

Couldn’t agree more. Typically I see users with 2, 3, 4, FIVE toolbars in their browser and they never even thought twice about how it got there..

I know this said “software-free”, but I really recommend the Web of Trust (WOT) plugin. Again, you shouldn’t rely on it, but it really is an asset to web surfing, especially to individuals who do it often, such as students’ doing research, etc.

UGH. Just NO. Why do people do these stupid things?! xD
