Sarah Palin - The Drama Queen

Every family has one. In our family it is a niece that we fondly have labeled as a ‘Drama Queen’. This type of person thrives on attention, usually controversy that they themselves create. After creating the conflict they can concentrate their energies on being the victim and place blame on everyone except for themselves. It is easy to spot a ‘Drama Queen’ because when they try to defend their actions they have a tendency to ramble on. This person will try to focus attention away from their actions and blame others. ‘Drama Queens’ also are accepted by their families because they love them, even though they realize the flaw in the person.

During Sarah Palin’s resignation speech one noted that she was surrounded by her family. This gives the ‘Drama Queen’ the appearance of family support even when they go rambling on about why they are taking these actions, in this case quitting her role as Governor of Alaska. But the family has little choice since they are ordered to appear. One could see this same scenario whenPalin appeared with her family when stumping for her bid as Vice President. The family, including the young man who was supposed to be her future son-in-law, were presented as a united family. But one could see that this young man was very uncomfortable.

Next we had the resignation speech itself. Was it just me, or was she just rambling? I was unclear as to why she was quitting. She mentioned something about being a lame duck and she didn’t want to be looked at this way. But wasn’t this her first term as Governor? Couldn’t she have run for a second term making her not a potential lame duck? Was it something that David Letterman said?

Personally I still like the ‘Drama Queen’ angle. The ‘Drama Queen’ in our family is now going to counseling. Hint, hint Sarah!

Jackie, the sad part is that her popularity has gone up with conservatives, and polls taken yesterday state that about 70% of them would vote for her in the 2012 election, Not only that, her PAC contributions have skyrocketed.

Conservatives (even the pretend kind) are strange people.

I find it amusing how much liberals (not assuming / accusing you of being one) are obsessed with her. They never attack her on policy, rather they result to ad hominem attacks. I think many of the obsessed are terrified of her - she is the most influential figure on the right, and has appeal with independents and democrats who don’t vote party line.
